We are eagerly preparing for our big events in the third week of September and are very much looking forward to celebrate the Austrian Life Science in a multi-day panel.
As a pre-event to the annual conference, the ÖGMBT is organizing its new ÖGMBT LIFE SCIENCE CAREER FAIR©, the first career fair in Austria in the field of life sciences – together with our partner acib GmbH. The rich program runs from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and deals with career opportunities in both the academic and industrial sectors.

The conclusion of the Career Fair is also the start of the annual conference: It is the ceremonial presentation of the Life Science Awards Austria 22 with the participation of the Federal Ministry for Digital and Economic Affairs (BMDW). The participants of the career fair are also invited to the Award ceremony, the opening ceremony of the ÖGMBT Annual Meeting and the party later in the evening!

14th ÖGMBT Annual Meeting “Life Sciences – now more than ever”, September 19-22
The subsequent three days of the 14th ÖGMBT Annual Meeting will be filled with 15 sessions covering medical aspects of the life sciences, applied aspects and a diverse set of basic research. It is a good mix of invited international talks and talks by students, a company trade show including exhibitors quiz and many networking activities. So prepare yourself and register in time! Meet you there!
Program:
15 scientific sessions this year will again focus on biotechnology and synthetic biology, cell biology and immunology as well as cancer research/oncology. Two sessions focus on plant biology and plant biotechnology. Microbiology is also prominently represented: a session in cooperation with the International Bioprocessing Association on September 22, for example, is about industrial microbiology. One of the sessions on microbiology will be led by Stefan Pflügl from the Vienna University of Technology who won one of the START prizes from the Austrian Science Research Fund (FWF) this year.
The afternoon of September 21 is dedicated to several doctoral colleges. Last but not least, the daily poster sessions also serve to promote networking. Each young scientist who has submitted an abstract has the chance to win one of the prizes for Best Talk or Best Poster.
The ÖGMBT Annual Meeting is also famous for its “Wine & Science” reception on September 20, which is included in the registration fee. The exhibitors bring along wine for tasting with the participants and ÖGMBT takes care of bread and cheese.
